Re: Mealy bugs

You might try orthene wetable powder. I have used that on maidenhairs for years and never had a problem. It is fairly effective on scales and should also be effective on many other pests. Warning. It is not particularly dangerous, but it STINKS when you open the container. Mixed as directed it has very little smell after applied. D. Petersen

Thanks Wim,

But what kind of insectised would be save for ferns. I use some poison on my shrub for 3 weeks every other day but some are still there.

I am affraid to just use anything on ferns especially Adiantums as I know they are very sensitive.

First find the source (some plants where they hide from you?). Then, once you have removed their layr, forget you're an environmentalist and poison them. The individuals are not especially resistent to ordinary treatments, but if you've got e.g. a Clivia around they simply keep coming.

Hallo Everyone,

How does one get rid of mealy bugs on adiantums??

We suddenly have a huge infestion of mealy bugs in our town. Even some of
my shrubs have them. This has never been a problem in the past.

I am affraid that more and more ferns will be attacked by these pests.

Thanks
