Re: Little brother

I somehow never think of agriculture when I think of the 5 counties (boroughs) of NYC -- at least not in the past 150 years. New York, however,does have botanical gardens that pretty much outdo anything around here. <IMHO> Of course, I might be prejudiced.

Ceres, not all extension agents are accommodating. We had the same situation here for many years. Daytime, weekday classses only - because the agent only had a need for daytime people to help with telephone calls. This is the focus of many MG programs and what the program itself was primarily founded for. Why should an agent spend his evening hours teaching classes to people who can't help him with phone response calls that come in during weekday hours?

If an agent really wants to grow the program in his county s/he'll have to often put in more than a 40-50 hour week and give up a lot of evenings and weekends. That may not be what the agent signed on for.

In Sue's case her 5 counties may have other options for assistance in their work. And if the surrounding counties have an abundance of applicants, it would not be fair to give a valuable spot to someone from another county.

That is strange, Jesse. Talk to them asking if they would consider having a
class in the evening.
