Isn't that the truth! There are some assisted living places here that allow people to keep their pets. It is a known fact that people are a lot better off with them than without.

Daryl, any idea what happened to the other pet?He and a sib were left where the elderly folks had boarded them
As to the Disney tag - I wonder if the grandkids' parents realize what
message they are teaching their kids by doing this. On the other hand, who
knows? - maybe there was some reason the family couldn't keep them, though I
can't for the life of me think of a good reason. City code here allows a
maximum number of animals in a household, but even if I were at the max, I
couldn't have let my parents pets go to a shelter. and I wonder....what do
you think they told the grandparents if and when they visit them at the home
and are asked about their beloved pets?
And bless you for taking in Buddy and Hermann. What the %*&++++ is wrong
with people?

Kitty, What was even more sad was that the grandchildren had attached a Disneytagsaying, "We love you Dreyfuss" and engraved with their names. He's a good guy. No dog deserves to be dumped, but Dreyfuss ishousebroken, leash trained and has no bad habits. There's no reason for such cruelty.
(Lucky us- we didn't know all that when we brought him home- our criterion
was that Buddy liked him. )
I suspect that his original owners forced the non-dump issue. He and a
sibwere left where the elderly folks had boarded them on occasion, and asluckhad it, the owner of the kennel sometimes boards overflow from the humane
society folks.
As you said, at least he wasn't just turned out like Woody. We've taken in
some guys like that, and others even worse, like Hermann, who was dumped
ina sleet storm after being beaten with chains. The world is often cruel. Hang on to your heart, Kitty. Buddy was the last pup we adopted, too,maybe5 years behind the others. We didn't
plan it that way - he was being kept in a guinea pig cage, by himself,
outside, in December, after being taken away from his mother before he was
weaned. A puppy cries; What can you do?
