I have mine in my bedroom and it only comes on when there is a local alert for where we live. You have to get a county number off the internet to program into it and then it works for your area only. It will wake me up.... which is good when a tornado is close.

Our weather radio came on, if you don't have one of these I think hey are well worth the 30 dollars. It was warning of tennis ball size hail and high winds. WE didn't have any damage that I have found but in town they had windows knocked out, car windows broken, and trees split.

I just got down from the roof with 3 sacksful of maple seeds. Yes, Auralie, they said the furthest east tornado fizzled out at the Ohio border. I think we got everyone's rain Fri night. It poured from 7pm until sometime early the next morning. We needed rain but not that much. Next time I'll just tell the rain gods to take it your way.

Kitty, you got the weather we were predicted to have - and we
need rain so badly.  The radio forecaster had said there would be
"wild" weather.  In fact the day was overcast, very humid, and
about 80 degrees.  The sun came through for a couple of hours
in the afternoon. Then about sunset the skies grew very dark and
there was another 'Rip Van Winkle' thunder storm with much
rumbling and flashes of lightning.  Rain may have fallen for about
two minutes - barely enough to dampen the stepping stones.  Then
just before dark I looked out ahd there was a splendid rainbow - the
first I have seen in several years. So much for the wild weather. We 
still need rain terribly.

We had very rough weather last night. A lot of rain and 3 tornadoes in the area. I got home a bit past midnight and all 3 streets that access my house were flooded with standing water. The winds ripped all the petals off my poppies and most of the florets from my Meyer Lilac - looked like a mini snow storm had hit below it - a fragrant snowstorm though. And of course the darn gutters were clogged with the stupid Maple seeds - bumper crop this year - so the water just tumbled over the gutters. I'll have to go up there 
and clean them out again tomorrow.
