And then there are people like me who absolutely refuse to pay retail
for clothing and do about 95% of my clothing shopping for myself, my
husband, and our three children at quality consignment shops...living in
a University/major medical center community has a great advantage in
that there are plenty of doctor's/professors and their families who
spend loads of money on upscale, designer clothing that they wear for a
few months and then sell off at cosignment stores. Last year I bought
the most beautiful pair of suede Ralph Lauren pumps for $3.00! What a
deal! And I religiously recycle our own clothing to the local shelter
for battered women and their children...so often they leave everything
behind to get out and are in great need of decent clothing for
work/school.
