Re: International Thriller Writers Association

I do not really have time for this one... but the topic is one that
demands replies from everyone on this List. This is my busiest time of the
year... the make it, or do something else for a living time.
While I do not consider myself a "professional" I am always struck by
the lack of professionalism in GWA. If I have received one new assignment
from an editor as a result of my being in a listing in GWA I have yet to
hear about it. I do receive requests for free stuff... use photos they will
not pay for, want an article that will help me get good exposure..... "I am
doing an article, I can not afford to pay for photos, will you help for
credit" thing. The best garden writing workshop.. the most honest
workshop... I have ever attended was not from GWA.
Will I be a member next year... doubt it. GWA has one foot in the past,
is not always straight forward and I do not pay to receive awards. Final
work... paper tiger.. no muscle in the market.
