Re: Nikons and Canons in the closet

Ellen,

Depends on the little camera...if it is high resolution with a decent
zoom...it should be good enough not to worry about. Some of your activities
are possible problems for expensive equipment anyway...relax...enjoy the
trip...and take photos on a smaller handy camera. Lugging around anything on
a hiking trip is a pain!

I'm going to Spain in September...not taking my laptop...and taking my Kodak
mostly (OMG!) point and shoot camera. I know, I know...I could take such
wonderful photos if I could only afford a better camera...but I believe a
lot of the beauty of a photo is the subject and composition. Yes, you can do
amazing stuff with a better camera...but I personally can't afford it right
now...and I HATE lugging stuff around in Europe!

This brings up a dilemma I'm currently agonizing over. I'm going to
Crete at the end of September for 2 weeks of hiking, swimming, and
eating. Do I bring the big Canon or the little? The purpose of the
trip is not photography but surely there will be beauty along the
way. Which wins out: easier backpacking or truly capturing a once in
a lifetime trip? I go back and forth, depending on the temperature.
Can anyone convince me not to be lazy?
