I too get a ton of questions from transplanted northerners now trying to garden in Florida (they
miss their lilacs and tulips and hostas!) And lately I've been answering the same sort of things
for southerners suddenly transported to cold northern gardens.

Whatever the reason, there will always be newcomers either to gardening or to the type of climate
and conditions they garden in. SO there will always be a place for writing about the basics.

Gerri, Not long ago I did run a poll asking about the general level of expertise of the readers
of the Garden Center at Suite101.com and it came out about equally split among beginners, those
who felt they were somewhat experienced and those who thought of themselves as experts. The more
complicated question you're proposing doesn't lend itself to a poll - although if I could think
of a way to fit it into that format I would. Right now I am asking people in the Garden Center
area what books they like and would recommend - but basically am only getting responses from
other editors.

I'd be happy to ask all of these questions if I could find a way to get people to speak up!
