That is precisely the issue.  Those are great topics that should be in Fine
Gardening, O.G. and even Garden Gate.  They certainly should have access as
features in the newspaper; but what Andrew is suggesting is that those
opportunities are going down.
Is it because the writing got boring?
Is it because publishers have to tighten space and gardening is not a
priority?
Is it because consumers are not buying as many gardening magazines and
gardening books?
