RE: [GWL]: Gardening/MG stats
Jeff,
I don't have a copy of the NGA survey, but I recently got the latest figures
from Bruce Butterfield at NGA for an article. The 1999-2000 survey shows the
total spent on lawn and garden in the U.S. is $33.5 billion/year, which
breaks down to $532/household. They will be doing a new survey this spring.
I don't know how lawn care figures into the mix. Another fact I ran across,
applications for the MG program here, which covers about three IL. counties,
have jumped by 33 percent this year over a fairly consistent number in past
years. I wonder if other areas of the country are seeing this. Does anyone
know?
