Re: Fran...Help for "weird things happening to your computer" (don't read this Andrew)

Some software, Pagemaker for example,  has been discontinued and there is no updated version to run on OS 10.3 and requires the classic (OS 9) to run the software.  Over the years, major  Operating System upgrades have forced users to upgrade all of their other software. Unfortunately some developers just didn't chose to do so.

I believe the problem Norton has is associated with there being two different OS on the same hard drive.  In my case I was able to correct all of the problems only to the OS 9 sector refuse to boot.  The problem with OS 10.3 is not being able to boot from an external hard drive although you can boot from a CD.  Such is progress.

Attempts to repair caused all sorts of other difficulties.  I was told by my computer boffin that my Norton had collected so many updates via downloads that it didn't know what it was doing anymore. We trashed that Norton version.
