Re: USDA Leafy Greens Proposal
According to the Raw Foods Newsletter,
http://www.rawfoodsnewsmagazine.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=206&mode=nocomments&order=0&thold=5
this proposal would require irradiation of all greens, including those
labeled organic. I can't imagine anything that could hurt sales more--I am
certain that I won't be the only one to boycott all greens in restaurants
and grocery stores if that were the case. Speaking as a person who used to
ship raw greens--and take immense care to keep them clean and free of
pathogens--this strikes me a an economic disaster for a lot of farmers.
Consumers have to take care of themselves these days and it's a bloody shame
that too few people understand enough to know how and where to shop.
