Arborsculpture book and photo questions
Ten years ago, I wrote and self published the book "How To Grow A Chair,
The Art Of Tree Trunk Topiary" since then I have been collecting information
about people around the world and throughout history who have shaped tree
trunks into things artistic and useful. I am getting ready to self publish
my next book Arborsculpture (working title).
I have a e-mail based newsletter, last issue was sent on 1-29-05
http://www.arborsmith.com/letter.html it comes out about twice a year, my
web site has loads of photos and information.
For all you freelance writers out there, I have found that many editors are
intrigued by the idea of growing tree trunks into things.
I have digital photos available for publishing at the going rate.
When I was hunting publicity for my first book, way back when, I was happy
to provide free photos,
then one editor paid me and needless to say, I don't give them away anymore.
Now some questions, is it ethical to charge magazine and book publishers for
historical paintings and drawings I provide, that are old and in the public
domain ?
I also have photos that are often requested that belong to other people how
should I handle requests for their photos, can I charge anything ?
Aside from sending a press release to magazines and newspapers what are some
other ways to get publicity for my new book. ?
