[GWL]: Two birds with one clip

The following clip, from the writerswrite newsletter, contains a usage that
drives me nuts. Look for it in the last sentence: ". . .have already been
publishing less books from midlist authors." As everyone on this list must
know, it should be fewer. --Less mustard, but fewer mustard seeds. Also,
shouldn't it be "editorial" rather than "editor" in the second sentence? To
say nothing of the "employees" rather than "employs" in the fourth sentence.
. .honest, all I did was clip this.

Secondly, The Editorial Dead Zone at the less-than-well-proofed
writerswrite.com is a good way to keep up with the publishing industry in
general. I've left the address below for anyone who wants to subscribe.
Sometimes it's depressing, but they do list jobs.

Here's the clip:

Random House, a New York book publishing house, has initiated a round of
layoffs. Nine cuts, including editor jobs, have already been made at its
Doubleday Broadway, Ballantine and Bantam Dell divisions. More layoffs are
expected in several other Random House book divisions. Random House
employees over 3,000 people. The layoffs have sparked fears that publishers
may cancel books or reduce the number of books published in the future. This
comes at a time when the major publishers have already been publishing less
