RE: Vegetable seed needed to feed one person

Margaret and all,

I was not trying to make anyone feel threatened and I am sure Jeff was not
either. What can I say?

Regardless of what the program is called, promoting gardeners to share their
food with local food banks only makes sense. Even though places in your area
may heavily promote this not everyone may notice.

I went to the store once a month when my four children were little. I was
very distracted by my kids. At one point I had newborn twins as well as a 3
and 4 year old. I did not notice specials, flyers, etc. I went to buy what I
needed and get out of there period. However once they were in bed for the
night I could read the paper. Most of the pamphlets that came in the grocery
bags ended up in file 13.

Yes, I had a garden, yes, I had extra food. I gave it to my neighbors. I did
not know local food banks would have taken it and maybe even picked it up. I
really did not get out much.

You are right as long as the food is not wasted it doesn't matter who gets
credit. However, PAR is part of the GWA and I feel that talking about it on
list is appropriate. Lon, correct me if I am wrong.

My goal really was to try to figure out how much seed I need to give each
correctional facility so that they can provide food both for themselves and
their local food pantries. I see it as a way inmates can do something good
to pay back the community for the wrong they have done.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way. I did not want to send this off list
as I really do not want anyone to feel threatened or insulted.

Just my 2 cents,
Sheri
