daffodils in California
Since Nan's original question concerned a friend who wanted to plant
daffodils in Novato, CA I can not resist jumping in since I actually
live in Novato. (I am still planting bulbs too - or would be if this
rain would stop...)
I can't resist jumping in because not only have my paper whites (Ziva)
been blooming since Thanksgiving - which is not news, BUT one of my
yellow trumpets has finished ! I can not be sure which one because
they are in a bed with some other "extras" from years ago. (Yes, yes
, I confess I do not keep as good records as I should...) It may be
Rijnveld's Early Sensation but those are opening today (I just walked
out) in a marked bed and seem to be a bit more glaucus leaf.
wait a minute! , did I say it has just stopped raining ??? gotta get
out of this office and get those last bulbs planted ... and that big
tree branch that came down on top of my new veggie beds must be cleared
... and I just HAVE to cut back the roses, Cornelia and Tournament of
Roses need a rest ... and the 8 yards of mulch that was delivered the
day before the rains started still awaits me ... and the rains bring
weeds ... gotta go .... send
