Re: question about blogs

 I write two blogs: My own, once a week; and as a contributor to someone
else's blog every other week. Sometimes, I write a long comment on GGW. I
 primarily read other gardening blogs that are shown as links on my blog.
There are other blogs that I read episodically, some artist's,
designer's, or photographer's blogs to see what is new. Or, if somebody
sends something interesting to the GWListserv, I might read a new blog
for a while. I don't read other blogs when I'm busy, just in my "spare"
time.

It is impossible to say how long these blogs take to write. Some, like
pieces on detention basins, take quite a bit of time, because I know
engineers, planners, and environmental scientists are going to be reading
them. And I don't just write. I think, I start to write, I go think some
more in the shower, I eat breakfast. Then I write some more. Sometimes,
there are technical problems that take longer to resolve than writing the
blog.

I don't blog to think on the Internet, or as a journaling thing --- it's
part of an overall business and personal strategy. I blog on Fridays,
which I consider my day "off."
