Re: India
Dear JF, Margaret and other list members,
I am not good at English like the present day Indian young boys and girls.
I studied in a Hindi medium school unlike my children and grand children.
English was just one of the subjects for us and it started from Class V. I
have been using English in my profession and that is how I have learnt this
language. I can just manage.
But our youngsters know VERY GOOD English. I was in China for three weeks.
I was greatly impressed with everything they had there at China Agricultural
University, Beijing and China Academy of Agricultural Sciences at Zhengzou.
I was also at Shanghaii (as a tourist) for four days. They lack knowledge
of English language. But they are very conscious of this and very keen to
learn English. Now they have introduced English language right from class
I.
I noticed that the students used to be very keen to sit with me, accompany
me to visit places in city only as it was a an opportunity for them to
converse in English.
My prediction is that the day everyone in China is able to communicate and
work in English, it will turn into another GREAT BRITAIN of old days in
whose empire the sun never used to set.
