Re: sponsorship

On my local public radio station (WJFF in New York, where I have a
music show) I am not even permitted to host a gardening show as it is
perceived as publicising my business and this is not considered
appropriate. If I ran cooking store or wrote food books I would not
be able to host a food/cooking show. The management takes a very
purist view although I have been allowed to host a gardening special
during the fund drives. I could be a guest on a gardening show and
the rules state that my name and credentials would be given only at
the beginning and end of my interview. All underwriting is negotiated
by the management, though they welcome ideas and contacts from on-air
hosts and anyone else.

These are very restricting rules... but the board wants to keep the
station as far away from commercial radio in style as possible.
