Yes, there is a lot of fall planting and dividing in my area...zone 5 SE
lower Michigan. Trees and shrubs mostly...one reason...because they are on
sale...if what you want is still available! Perennials also...and lots of
dividing. Avoids the divided plants from looking bad all through
summer...and saves on some watering and shock. Fall in my part of Michigan
is late September and all of October. Peak color is around October 10-15.

I left this on-list because of the rose discussion...I'll bet there are lots
of opinions on this one also...!
