Re: cucumber taste

I'm afraid I'm with the person who said cucumberish. Maybe its variety, maybe its growing conditions but a home grown cucumber - as opposed to the watery shop kind - really does have a subtle, sweet, full flavour all its own. My children preferred them to apples when they were young - in fact judging by the depredations when they are home they still do. Friday evening I had a box with nearly 30 waiting to be pickled. By the time I got around to doing it Sunday evening there were three but the boys had departed with suspiciously loaded bags. I suppose I should be grateful they left me any

How about "rather like borage"?
