Re: Re RoundUp?
As a Ct Master Gardener (University of Ct is the land grant school behind the program), my instructions are to keep the recommendations generic, avoiding all mention of named products and toxic chemicals. Hort oil, insecticidal soap, and the like are permitted recommendations. We have a huge library of Fact Sheets and creditable information which we are told to copy and give out on the particular problem in addition to personally explaining the hows, whys, and wherefores of the issue in question. When pointedly asked, I must admit, however, to dissuading clients (in subtle ways) from using "off the shelf" products/chemicals whenever possible, short of escorting them to the local garden center and physically blocking such a purchase.
