At the Holden this summer is an exhibit on model trains and

There's also Millenium Park, where Piet Oudolf designed much of Lurie 
Garden/landscape.

Also, if you get a chance, visit Oak Park and do the Frank Lloyd 
Wright walking tour, and have a nice dinner at one of the 
neighborhood restaurants.

Or, consider an architecture tour -- lots of providers, just Google 
chicago architecture tour.

I love Chicago. People are friendly. It's fairly easy to get around 
on public transportation or by car.
