Re: Garden pests and control

The method of control for many of these rodents that appeals to me the most
is to put up a barn owl nesting box. Each nesting pair of barn owls will eat
an amazing amount of rodents in a season. I'm pretty sure I've got a good
document with the exact measurements if anyone's interested.
You now see more and more of these owl houses in commercial orchards and
vineyards, at least here in California.
I suppose to catch groundhogs though....you'd need a Great Horned Owl house.

Tom
PS. On some occasions in the past I've gone out snake hunting...caught a big
gopher snake, bull snake or a big kingsnake, and put that down the rodent
holes...this works well, too, and is, of course, a pretty good excuse to go
lookin' for snakes.
