photo question

Not my usual gig, but a client wants me to take photos (dare I say snapshots?) of several collectibles that his mother is giving to his daughter. The idea is the mother will write the provenance for the pieces to go w/the photos.

Questions:
*should I put all these images on their own memory chip or just take them and burn them to a CD?
*if I'm asked to print these images, should I print them on photo paper (I've never done that) or should I take them somewhere to be printed?

Thank you.
