Hello Jessie,
My name is not Melanie, but I would like to jump in here
if you do not mind.
Lecturing and writing should play off of each other.
Nothing sells like success. First thing a garden club or organization wants to
know if the name of the gardening magazines you have written for, or books
published, to use in introductions to the audience and in the publicity given
out on you and your lecture. Use your articles to sell your lectures. I am in
the process of organizing a new presentation or two for next year to match up in
content with up-coming articles for magazines.
If you already have the background of being successful
as a writer, the door is already open to you as a speaker... if you can follow
through. Not everyone is cut out to be a good speaker. But, then, I have been to
pretty terrible presentations at symposiums and the speakers keep on getting
invited back... so perhaps you do not even have to be good at it......;-)
