Re: best water breakers and nozzles
I wonder if leaving the nozzles out in the weather shortens their life. I
garden at community gardens, so I always bring my own nozzles. The (metal)
ones at the garden all leak -- got stepped on, or rodent-chewed, mostly.
I've had several pattern nozzles where the on/off switch was the first
thing to fail. That's easy to fix: buy a separate on/off attachment. None
of the pattern mechanisms have failed. Maybe I switched around enough that
none of them got overused?
I use my Dramm head on the end of a hose with an on/off attachment. I've
also used it with wands, but for my gardens it's most efficient without the
wand.
Second choice (but waaaaaay down the list) is a cheap plastic fan nozzle.
No moving parts to break. The only one that failed is the one that got run
over in the driveway.
I occasionally used the patern nozzles for the mist setting, until I
started watering my seeds and seedlings using bottom watering, or else
individually with a baster.
