Re: [GWL]: land covenants
I live in a cooperative townehouse community. We have some
restrictions like not being able to plant our own shrubs
without management permission. If you handle it correctly
up front, you can often win over the management people.
Example: I showed them how the alpine shrubs I wanted to
plant in front were actually smaller than the plants in that
location. After she saw that the plan would actually be a
neater yard, it was agreed with not problem. I also
convinced her to let me turn my entire backyard into a
perennial border combined with trough gardens which is now
listed as a wildlfie habitat (10 ft x 10 ft) with the
National Wildlife Federation.
However, expanding the depth of my front yard garden would
absolutely be forbidden. They also strongly discourage
vegetable gardens (unless you cleverly work it into
perennial or annual borders).
Just being a creative gardening can help you get around the
so-called rules!!!!!
