Re: MOLES AND RELEVANCE
I, too, was enjoying the non-garden writing thread, and thinking about
posting a bit about once touring a garden where the gardener was growing a
tall species of euphorbia to deter moles. Since I knew the genus but not the
species I held back from making the post. Then along came the suggestion
that we stick to the garden writing thread. This is valid, but it does tend
to make the list more boring. I am now in negotiations on a pending project,
and the LAST thing I would do is put the details up on this or any list! And
others of us probably feel the same way about their plans and projects, so
certain aspects of garden writing discussion are ruled out.
It's a fine balance between keeping the list from being a general discussion
of our garden problems, and being totally professional. Since I work long
hours at home, I like the online companionship of my peers. They're garden
writers because it is fun to read what they write!
I think it is up to the members to bring up a range of topics. I would like
to hear more about upcoming events, new book releases, hort businesses that
are doing something new, opening, or closing. Also I liked the threads from
people who planned to travel to another area and wanted suggestions about
gardens to tour.
Here's my gut feeling. It was more interesting to me that Diana had moved
and had a new problem with moles than it would have been if I had gotten an
email from a stranger with the same problem and question. That's because I
feel that I know Diana in some way, even though it is only through email.
Enjoy the day, online friends!
