Dan - ask yourself how Canada Post or US Postal Services would identify
those packages that are specifically ordered or those packages that are
being sent as promotions? And whether they'd go to that kind of trouble
and cost or not? (The answer is "not") :-) Given the absolute millions of
packages/letters that cross the border each day (remember that the US and
Canada are each others biggest trading partners) there is no way this
problem is going to go away.



This is not a new problem and Yvonne will find that some packages slip
across and some get caught. Depends on the time of day and fullness of the
moon I suspect. :-) It does always seem to be the really interesting ones
<baseball bats for garden groundhogs> though that we get to pay the taxes
on. ;-)



As soon as Canada absorbs the US political system and we take over, this
problem will be brought to an end. We'll rationalize both the tax systems
and the post offices. Trust us on this one. I think that this is something
that lawyer Jeff should start working on, PR Suzie -with her experience -
should start preparing for as well as some other gwa members to organize
the appropriate financial transactions. I mean how much could it cost to
buy the USA given the size of the deficit?



Must be silly season out there...
