The reason incandescent lights aren't 100% suitable for growing is that they
aren't nearly 100% efficient. As a matter of fact, they are more like 10%
efficient when compared to a comparable wattage HID (High Intensity
Discharge) lamp. For example - a 100 watt incandescent bulb outputs about
1000 lumens - in comparison a 100 watt HID lamp outputs about 10000
lumens... get the picture??? 10 times the output for the same unit of
electricity converted. ( see
