Hi! I've got a philodendron cultivar that keeps developing light brown
patches on the margin. I don't know enough to be able to tell if the spots
are a fungal disease or a bacterial one. I've been cutting off the affected
leaves, but if I keep on doing this I won't have a plant left.
I'm not sure which kind of philodendron this is. It had a cultivar name
that I forgot to write down when I bought it, although I think it had the
word "autumn" in it. It looks a bit like what my source books calls a P.
erubescens--long glossy green leaves (new ones are yellow-green) with red
stems, except the bases of the leaves are round and not heart-shaped.
Anyway, I have this in fairly low light (about five inches back from an
obstructed west window) and have been watering it once a week, which is
possibly too often. It hasn't been drying out quickly.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,
Nancy Stedman
