Actually, there are 3 possible plural forms for cactus but that isn't one of
them. They are: Cacti, Cactuses and Cactus (according to Merriam-Webster).
ObCactus: I've never found Christmas Cacti to be very tempermental. I put
them in a sunny window, water them when they're dry (about once a week in
summer, once every 2 weeks in winter), stop fertilizing in Autumn, start in
the Spring, and they bloom every year - usually in Nov or Dec and again in Mar
or April. A bit of "light pollution" in the evening hasn't stopped them from
blooming. I move them when the start blooming (to show them off) and don't
notice many buds dropping off. It is likely there are hardy and fussy
varieties.
