Greetings to all, and happy Labor Day!
Thought I'd check in, but don't see much on this thread today. Suppose
most everyone is out enjoying the holiday.
My wife Pat and I spent an enjoyable day to ourselves. She worked on a
quilt (one of her chief hobbies) and I started getting vacationing
houseplants ready for the trip back indoors for the winter.
Set up pots and soil on the table on the deck. Thanks to the umbrella
over the table, the work area was pleasant. Was a warm, humid day here,
but the umbrella shade and plenty of ice tea made everything
comfortable.
Trimmed lot of garden geraniums; cuttings will be rooted and grown on
over winter. The pruned geraniums will go under lights, along with
houseplants. Also took cuttings of semp. begonias; I love these plants
because they do so well over winter and brighten flower borders spring
through fall.
This week will be devoted to preparing houseplants for the big move to
light setups and window stands -- cleaning, searching for pests and
diseases, pruning, repotting (in some cases), etc. The lights test OK,
the basement workshop/plant room is ready, pots and seed trays are
cleaned, soil is mixed, etc. Let the good times roll!
Great growing to each of you.
