Hello Katie
You know, the one thing I taught my boys while growing up, was "if you
don't know, ASK" that's the only way you will ever learn. I always
kept the door open on any subject, and if I couldn't answer, then we
would find someone that knew the answer.
I have learned so much since being a part of the list I belong to.
Before joining I was know as the "plant killer" simply because I
hadn't a clue as to what I was doing, now I ask no matter how silly
or stupid it may sound.
I am still having problems with botanical names for plants, and still
refer to them by the common name. some folks don't know what I am
talking about, but I have the same problem with botanical names. I
don't reconize the plant named and have to look it up, to discover I
know that plant very well, but I am learning, it's a very time
consuming venture.
Roses, I don't have many, I think they are beautiful, but always
thought they required so much care and attention. I may get brave
enough to purchase another from time to time.
I'll see if I kill my Sally Holmes before I buy another...
I bought a Rhododendron and a Tree Peony this season. "my first"
if they live, then I might get another of each.
One thing I have learned is to get as much information about a plant as
you can before purchasing , especially if it's an expensive plant. I
have been taking advantage of my local library, that's when I decided
to buy the Rhododendron, and with the Tree Peony, I saw it at my local
nursery and came home and located information on the internet and then
ask members of the list their oponion. It looked like a stick of wood
when I brought it home, today it has green leaves and one really fat
bud, so I'm proud of myself.
Katie it is a pleasure to meet you , I have enjoyed talking with you
and hope that we can talk more. Do you grow other thing, like
perennials? if you don't belong to the perennial list then it would
be nice to see your post on that list. everyone is so nice and I
learned so much from the folks there. think about joining if you are
not already a member
well, time to get busy for the day
happy gardening
