That's the concept promoted by everyone in the know - you're not really 
feeding
the plants but rather the soil so that everything each particular plant needs 
is available for them to take up from the soil.  When we acidify or 
conversely sweeten
the soil, it's so the plant can access the nutrients it needs. If the ph is 
wrong, all
that a plant needs could be in the soil but it can't access it well enough to 
maintain its vigor. 

Question: is rust on roses the same as rust on hawthorn and apple trees?
