Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
We live in rattlesnake country. The last one I saw was carrying a dead
gopher, which it dropped when it detected my presence, and moved on. I
tossed the gopher to it and, believe it or not, it picked up the gopher and
went on. Naturally, I would be heartbroken if my dog were envenomated--to
say nothing of one of us or a visitor, but I don't kill rattlesnakes I find
way out in the fields. Most snakes are even more beneficial to humans and
keep things in balance. I keep hoping for gopher snakes (or especially a
badger). I don't trap gohers except in the orchard or in the gardens. I
try to limit my footprint.
