When I add compost in the spring or summer it
seems to act like a mulch keeping the ground
moist and cool, but remains pretty much seperated
from the "dirt" below. When I add a few inches
of compost on top in the fall, by spring I cannot
tell where the compost ends and the dirt begins.
But my seeds sure start great in it!
