> Annie- I don't know if you are planting just veggies or also other
plants- but I use milk crates turned upside down , a newpaper clothespinned
over a small tomato cage-(thanks to Margaret for that tip), pieces of
lattice propped against a stick and for little plants- berry baskets turned
upside down.I have never tried remay-but many people wear by it. I am just
cheap.

I used to lose so many plants- flowers and veggies to shock before I
learned to shelter them from the sun and wind.Omit this step and you might
as well throw your plants away. I always give them several days to perk up
and get comfy and this seems to really help.

Also. this may sound really strange but I have lots of big juice jugs filled
with water on my patio and when I plant anything new- I never use cold water
from the hose- always warm water from these jugs. The plants like it
better.Regarding the planting times and watering- my experience matches
