I've planted these for the first time this year also. I'm not sure I'm of
much help, though. We direct seeded in mid March, but we had heavy early
predation from snails. I finally got a copper barrier up, and they're
recovering, and beginning to flower already, but they are only 6-8 inches
high. I suspect that mine are stunted by their early abuse, poor guys.
