I've used a homemade hot pepper and garlic spray for squash bugs, and it's
worked rather well. But I've never had a *really* heavy infestation, of
squash bugs to begin with.
My biggest problem with zucchini is the squash vine borer. I plan to try
the suggestions that have been mentioned here, and see what happens. I'll
also do as Mel Bartholomew suggests in his book, and just start more plants
about a month or so after the first batch, just in case. It's quite
upsetting when the squash vine borer zaps my plants, and it feels almost
shameful somehow to have to buy my zucchini at the grocery store!
