Those caterpillars are the culprits. Pick or scrape them off and squish them, or
they might double in size by the next day. I had them on both my cauliflower and
broccoli last fall. After checking and squishing every day for a couple weeks,
they didn't return and my plants recovered nicely. But that might have been
because the temperature dropped. Don't know if that will happen now.
Strangley, my kale plants weren't touched. So if you like kale, I recommend it.
It tastes wonderful tossed with a little sesame oil and steamed.
