Please help. Did I fry my seeds? I planted lettuce, squash (summer and
winter), marigold, verbena, sunflowers, zinnia, bell pepper and cutting
celery (looks and grows like parsley but tastes like celery) last night
in peat pots. I put them on a heating mat with a greenhouse cover on
the trays.
This morning the soil temp was only 60 degrees so I turned the mat up a
bit. When I came home this evening from being gone all day, the soil
temp was at 90 to 100 degrees!!! Have I done irreprable damage? Should
I throw all the seeds out and try to start again or do you think they
still might be ok? I lowered the temp of the heating mat, but is it too
late now? The temp might have been higher during the day; I don't know
since I wasn't here.
Thanks for the advice. Most of the recommended soil temps are 65 to 85.
Does anyone know the temp at which seeds are killed?
