I think sunflowers would work.  Mine do fine on half day sun, especially
since you'll be getting afternoon sun.  Morning sun probably wouldn't
cut it.  There are also some really beautiful vines that would work
beautifully.  Have to check the seed catalog as I can't recall the names
off hand.
