My Buttercrunch Lettuce (which anyway has bolted and will probably >be yanked this weeked) is *covered* with earwigs. I don't know about earwigs, but I did make an interesting discovery when yanking my own lettuce plants (including some BC) last month. The bigger plants wouldn't give up the soil, so my spouse, who was pulling them out for me, just snapped a half-dozen or so especially thick plants at ground level. Almost all these have put out new leaves and are growing fine again! Perhaps it is not necessary to begin again from seed for a fall crop of lettuce.... --Janet ------------------------------------------------------------------ Janet Wintermute jwintermute@ids2.idsonline.com *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe, send to: listserv@umslvma.umsl.edu the body message: unsubscribe sqft See http://www.umsl.edu/~silvest/garden/sqft.html for archive, FAQ and more.
