Not a dumb question!  Just one of those things you don't notice (even if you
see it) when you don't need it.  I too was relieved and excited in that
first gardening year when I found the broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and
even brussel sprouts at the local home store (thanks to "Bonnie's Plants).
I think the stores will carry what can be grown at the time it is possible
to plant.  We can even still find tomato seedlings for sale in ALabama!
