Cindi, I can't be absolutetly sure, but the pots were on my patio and I
never saw any birds around them, all I saw was a billion ants, marching in
and out like a parade. Last year my neighbour grew some zucchini plants and
gave me one, one of the zucchini's went rotten at the end of it and inside
the zucchini was full of ants. I thought they must have eatten it, so why
 not my sweet strawberries. Dot

The first year I planted a small garden in NC, large black ants (looked like
carpenter ants) marched in just before the corn was ripe and in one night and
early morning ate every single ear (about 35). I was doing my morning check
of the garden and was shocked-there were thousands of them. They ruined the
entire garden after that- I ended up mowing everything down and gave up.
Havent tried planting again, but we moved to a different town in Oct. and I
am planning on a garden here Anybody know if you canuse tanglefoot on corn
stalks???? Its them or us......
