Garden Stakes a la Mel

Hi, Everyone!

I have not been able to find the kind of garden stakes Mel used
in his book, the kind that are plastic covered(?) and have a curl
at the end.  I've looked in garden books, and at all the
nurseries around me and all they have are straight plastic and
bamboo, and not the right size (for a sq. ft garden).  Can anyone
tell me a source for 1" garden stakes?  Thanks!

I'm going to Arizona this weekend and will be back Sunday
afternoon - can't wait to check out the Walmart garden center in
Kingman and the nurseries.  Since one can't bring vegetation back
into California (there's an all-vehicle checkpoint near the
border), I'll only be able to seeds, tools or books, but it's
still fun to shop!! (disappointing, but a good reason behind the
law).  I'd love to have a ferret and a gerbil, but they're
illegal here as well!
