 It can grow in zone 9, but I think there are kinds that grow in other
zones and not in zone 9. I just have to be careful to get the right ones
if I order them through the mail. I think I'll try to get them at a local
nursery first. 
  Many years ago, I did grow asparagus here. Unfortunately, like the rest
of my gardening, I didn't keep up with it and got rid of it. Since then I
moved the garden area to another part of the yard and am starting over again,
with the hopes that I will have the time and energy to work through all
the obstacles.
