Re: Asparagus and Potatoes

Larry,
Your potatoes will probably do ok, because San Antonio (where I also lived
for 5 years) is much drier.  The rainfall is less, the humidity is less.
Plus if you used a light-colored barrel, chances are you will do ok.  The
light color will reflect heat rather than absorb it like black barrels and
tires do.  Studies on the barrel technique have shown, however, that yields
are not as high as when spuds are grown in the ground with mulch or dirt on
top.  Let us know if it works.
